How to Write a Loan Officer Job Description That Attracts Producers

Your job description is often the first impression a loan officer gets of your company. Most read like a compliance checklist. The best ones read like a reason to move.

Start with the opportunity

Open with what's in it for them: the market, the growth, the team, and the support they'll get to close more loans.

Be specific about the role

Name the channel (retail, wholesale, consumer direct), products (purchase, refi, VA, FHA, non-QM), territory, and whether it's in-office, hybrid, or remote.

Show the support

Processing, marketing, lead sources, technology, and pricing all matter. Producers want to know what will help them close faster.

List requirements clearly

NMLS licensing, states, and production expectations belong in a short, honest list — not buried in paragraphs.

Make the next step easy

End with one clear way to start a conversation.
